Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 1, at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish vigil service at * p.m. and the American Legion Auxiliary and Catholic Daughters of America rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Germaine was born Jan. 29, 1926, in Dyersville, daughter of Edward and Teckla (Langel) Johannes. She married Ira L. Fendell on May 14, 1960, at St. John Catholic Church in Delhi; he preceded her in death on Aug. 10, 2011. She and Ira were members of St. Francis Xavier Parish all of their married lives. Germaine's first job was at the Peakenbrock Sewing Factory. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker who also helped Ira operate their Lifetime Farm Products distributorship. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and American Legion Auxiliary. Her hobbies included gardening, crocheting, sewing, cooking and reading. She loved to go on car trips with her family to enjoy the countryside. Surviving are a son, Randy (friend, Wendy ElHussien) Fendell; a daughter, Renee (friend, Dave Gibbs) Fendell, all of Dyersville; a sister-in-law, Arlene Johannes; and several nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Arthur Johannes; sister and brother-in-law, Rita (Emil) Boge; her parents-in-law, Albert and Mary "Maime" Fendell; and a brother-in-law, John Fendell.
