Description	:	G. De Zeeuw Stricken at Farm While Gerrit De Zeeuw, 68, was at the farm of his son, Gerrit, jr. Monday, he was stricken with a cerebral hemorrhage and died without gaining consciousness. The two men were walking along, visiting as the son picked some corn. Suddenly his father said, "I don't feel well", and slumped to the ground unconscious. Gerrit propped him up against the wheel of a tractor and ran to the house for his car. Gerrit propped him up against the wheel of a tractor and ran to the house for his car. Mrs. De Zeeuw was there and they took the sick man to Grossman hospital. This was abot six o'clock. He expired early the next morning. Funeral services will be held in the American Reformed church Friday, October 6, at 1:30 o'clock preceded by services in the home at 1 p.m. Van Etten 's Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Mr. De Zeeuw was born on a farm four miles west and one half mile north of town July 17, 1882. At the age of nine he moved to Sioux Center and lived there eight years when he again moved back to the same farm. He lived there until he retired a few years ago. On December 12, 1907 he was married to Kate Wassenaar who preceded him in death August 24, 1944. To this union was born eight children, one passing away m infancy. Surviving are Bert of Hull, Dora, Mrs. Pete Mantel of Rock Rapids, Henrietta Mrs. Barney Zigtema of Doon, Nellie, Mrs. Fred De Weerd of Lakefield, Minn., Gerrit of Orange City and Melvin of Chicago, and Mrs. Henry Vande Berg of Orange City. There are also 14 grandchildren. He was married to Mrs. Gertrude Dykstra on December 27, 1946 who also survives him. Also left are two sisters Mrs. Ike De Jong of Orange City and Mrs. Martin De Boer of Holland, Minn. Two sisters and two brothers passed away earlier. Sioux County Capital 1950-10-05.
