Read More	Grim Reaper Takes An Aged Father After a long siege of illness, Gerrit John Van Peursem passed away at his home in Lismore, Saturday morning, November 15th and in spite of all that loving hand and medical aid could do the Great Maker had ruled other-wise and thus another soul has been called home. The deceased was at the time of his death 61 years, 1 month and 12 days old, he having been born on November 3, 1869 at Pella, Marion County, Iowa. On November 18, 1896 he was united in marriage to Miss Maggie Swalve, she preceding him in death having passed away on June 22, 1906. Unto this union was born five children: Walter, Mrs. Carrie Smith, Mrs. Bertha Pool, Mrs. Minnie Pink and Mrs. Myrtle Westra. On June 3, 1907 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Polley Ann Spriggs, and this union was blessed with two children, Miss Violet and Ralph both who stay with their parents. Beside those mentioned above to mourn his death are his wife who faithfully stood by and rendered all that human assistance could render only in the end to see all hopes go glimmering when Death Angel intervenes, also two step-sons, Charlie and Harlie, two brothers, Walter and George and one sister, Mrs. Chris Rehm. Gerrit John Van Peursem was an honest and up-right citizen whose place will be sorrowfully missed by the true wife and children which he left behind to mourn his departure yet it has been wisely said: “We weep for the love and lost because we know that our tears our in vain we can only acknowledge that the affliction is God’s will."
