He was the only child of Cornelius and Margaret Vander Molen Boerefyn. Gerrit became known as Jupe, and attended the Peoria Christian Grade School graduating from Pella Christian High School in 1953. In 1958 he enlisted in the Air National Guard of Iowa and served a six year service obligation and was honorably discharged as an Airman First Class in January of 1964. He worked for Vermeer Mfg. Co. in Pella. During 27 of his years with the company he was a trouble-shooter and traveled the world over for the company in that capacity. He commuted almost 43 years of his life for the company to which he was devoted. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include a cousin, Christy Van Zee; uncles and aunts: Jacob and Nellie Vander Molen, Christine Vander Molen, Leona Vander Molen, Sylvia and Tony Langstraat, Ann and Ralph Corbin, Mabel Vander Molen, Rachel and Case Vander Hart, Martena De Groot; Gysbcrt and Jennie Beekhuizcn, Gerrit and Agnes Boerfyn, Elma Boerefyn, Harold and Henrietta Vander Pol; and many other cousins and friends.
