Description	:	Gerrit W. Rozeboom, prominent farmer of West Branch township, passed on at his home after a lingering illness on Friday, Sept. 17, at the age of 57 years. He was vice president of the consistory of the local First Christian Reformed church and a former consistory member of tbe Christian Reformed churches at Rock Valley and Hull, a member of the board of directors of the Farmers Co-operative Society, trustee of West Branch township, treasurer of West Branch school district. Rozeboom, prominent farmer of West Branch township, passed on at his home after a lingering illness on Friday, Sept. 17, at the age of 57 years. He was vice president of the consistory of the local First Christian Reformed church and a former consistory member of tbe Christian Reformed churches at Rock Valley and Hull, a member of the board of directors of the Farmers Co-operative Society, trustee of West Branch township, treasurer of West Branch school district. He was born: June 26, 1880 at Pella, Iowa. His parents lived for some time near Harrison, S. Dak: but most of his mature life was spent in Sioux County. He lived for fifteen years near Rock Valley, eight years near Hull and the past thirteen years farmed in West Branch township. He was married on June 30, 1901, to Miss Marie Noteboom, who survives her husband, together with four sons; Wm. Gerrit Rozeboom of Rock Island, Ill., Gerrit G. Rozeboom of Pella, John and Edward Rozeboom of Sioux Center. A daughter died in infancy. Mr. Rozeboom's brothers are Wm. of Rock Valley; John of Edgerton: Tony and Richard W. of Sioux Center; his sisters; Mrs. H. K. Pals of Meservey, Iowa; Mrs. Peter Roskamp of Edgerton, Minn., Mrs. Albert Verduin, another sister, died seventeen years ago. Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 20th at 1:00 o'clock at the Rozeboom home and 1:30 at First Christian Ref. church in charge of the pastor, Rev. J. M. Dykstra, assisted by Rev. Rottschafer of Carmel. Rev. Ahram Bliek of Fulton, Ill., and Rev. A. Ten Harmsel. Rev. Dykstra's text was from Mark. 14th chapter and 36th verse. All the sons and their families were present, and a large congregation of relatives and friends. Mr. Rozeboom was a man of outstanding character and integrity, a kind husband and father, a trusted friend, and beloved by all who knew him. He was a man of much ability and rare judgment and will be greatly missed in the home, church and community. Alton Democrat 1937-09-24.
