Description	:	Mrs. Conrad Brower Dies After Long Illness Mrs. Conrad Brower, a resident of Colfax township for upwards of fifty years, died at her home late Wednesday afternoon, April 15, following a lingering illness of about six months' duration. Short services were held at one o'clock Saturday afternoon at the home, following which the funeral services were conducted at the Siemsen church. Interment was in the cemetery adjoining that church. Mrs. Brower, nee Grietje Winterboer, was born in Bunde, Ostfriesland, Germany. She emigrated to the United States while yet a girl, settling in Grundy county. Here she was married to Conrad Brower on December 13, 1882. They went to farming on a Colfax township farm later purchasing a farm of their own, where they resided for 28 years. This home farm is located 2 miles north and 1 1/2 miles west of Drake's church. Mr. Brower passed away March 26, 1929. Eleven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Brower, eight of whom are living. They are Henry, of Grundy Center; Mrs. Alice Johnson, Aplington; Dick and Cuno Brower and Mrs. Adam Poppen, all of Holland; Harm, Watertown, South Dakota; Mrs. Claus Behrends, Holland, and Peter, who lives on the home place. One son died in infancy, another son, John, met his death by accident in 1915, and a daughter, Mrs. John Meinders, of Aplington, died a year ago. Relatives from a distance in attendance at the funeral were Harm Winterboer, of Everly; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Meyer, Spencer; Henry Winterboer, Everly; Willie Williams and Bert Brower, Kanawha; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Nanninga, Belmond; Henry Brower, Ed Brower and John Brower of Geneva, Iowa; and Mr. and Mrs. Ubbie Thompson and Charlie Thompson, of Geneva. --The Grundy Register (Grundy Center, Iowa), 23 April 1931, pg 9
