Description	:	Gertrude A. Parker, 81, of Georgetown, died Thursday, March 9, 2006 at the Medical University of South Carolina Hospital in Charleston. Funeral services were Sunday, March 12, 2006 at 3 p.m. in First Baptist Church. Officiating were Dr. Ted Sherrill and Rev. Hiram McElrath. Burial, directed by Graham Funeral Home, followed in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Parker was born Feb. 1, 1925 in Andrews, a daughter of the late William James Ackerman and the late Hazel McCants Ackerman. She was a member of First Baptist Church, the Ruth Sunday School Class, the Young-As-Ever Club, and the Current Mission Group. She was a charter member of Whites Bridge Garden Club. She was also a member of the Georgetown Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and a hospital volunteer. Surviving are; her husband of 61 years, Vernon M. Parker Jr.; one son, Vernon M. Parker III and his wife, Lillian of Georgetown; two grandchildren, James M. Parker of Cookeville, Tenn., and Lucy Gertrude Parker of Columbia; one brother, Billy Ackerman of Georgetown.
