Description	:	EAVEY, GERTRUDE ALICE—Gertrude Alice Eavey, wife of Willard J. Eavey, 819 University Avenue, Hastings, Neb., passed away at 1:15 a. m. Sunday, December 25, 1938. Her death was due to a heart ailment, and came after several weeks of illness, climaxing a number of years of ill health. Mrs. Eavey was born in Cedar county, Iowa, January 27, 1875, and at the age of twelve moved to Lincoln county, Nebraska, with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. M. DeWolf. Eavey, 819 University Avenue, Hastings, Neb., passed away at 1:15 a. m. Sunday, December 25, 1938. Her death was due to a heart ailment, and came after several weeks of illness, climaxing a number of years of ill health. Mrs. Eavey was born in Cedar county, Iowa, January 27, 1875, and at the age of twelve moved to Lincoln county, Nebraska, with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. M. DeWolf. She attended school in a sod school house located eight miles north of Brady. At the age of fourteen she became a school teacher and continued to teach for the next ten years. Always deeply interested in spiritual things, she gave her religion practical expression through her participation in the work of the church. When only fifteen, she organized a Sunday school in the sandhills, and served as its superintendent. She and her husband made their home in Fillmore county and Geneva from 1910 to 1924. She is survived by her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Mildred Propst of Hays, Kas. Her mother, Mrs. Alice DeWolf of Kingsburg, Cal., two sisters, one brother and one granddaughter.
