Description	:	DEATH AT DOUGHERTY Another exceptionally sad death was that of Mrs. Gertrude Merfeld Backer, who passed away at her home in Dougherty on Thanksgiving day, but a few hours after the birth of a son. Mrs. Backer was the wife of Frank Backer who has charge of the grain elevator at Dougherty. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Merfeld and was 29 years of age. She beloved by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, son and parents, three sisters and four brothers.
