Visitation will be on Thursday, March 19, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the family present from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in Beemer, NE. Private family services will be held on Friday, March 20, 2015 with interment in the Beemer Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be directed to the John A. Stahl Library in West Point, NE. Gertrude Anna Batenhorst Wiegert was born February 27, 1926 to Ben and Elizabeth (Hunke) Batenhorst. Gert graduated from Guardian Angels High School in 1943. On September 13, 1947 she married Lester Rudolph Wiegert in Cody Wyoming. Gert & Les had four children, Robert, Tracy, Mary Jean and Patrick. Gert & Les lived on the family farm north of Beemer until 1995 when they moved into Beemer. Gert enjoyed nature, birds, playing cards and scrabble with family and friends, roller skating and playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Les, sons Robert (Sharon) of LaVista, Tracy (Denise) of Duncan, son-in-law Bruce Underwood of Bellingham Washington and Pat (Deb) of Beemer. Gert is also survived by grandchildren Chris (Mel) Wiegert, Cami (Mike) Platek, Joel (Judy) Wiegert, Aaron (Amanda) Wiegert, Matt Wiegert, Tristan Wiegert. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren. Gert was preceded in death by her parents and daughter Mary Jean in 2013 and several brothers and sisters." Minnick Funeral Home, Beemer, Nebraska.
