Read More	WIFE OF GEORGE GAGNON WATERVILLE - Gertrude B. Gagnon, 96, of Waterville, died on Jan. 11, 2016, at Sunset Home for Women, in Waterville, with her family at her side. She was born in Winslow on Jan. 12, 1919, the daughter of Frank and Gertrude (Jolicoeur) Berard. She attended St. Francis Academy and graduated from Waterville High School. On June 9, 1945, Gertrude married George Gagnon. Gertrude in her younger years assisted with special needs children at the Hilltop Center, was the secretary to the parish priest at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and during World War II she worked at Keyes Fibre Company. After her marriage she became a homemaker and raised her family. Gertrude like to volunteer. She was the president of the Rosary Sodality of Sacred Heart Church, a Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader, and volunteered at the local food bank. Gertrude enjoyed team bowling, doing crafts with friends, traveling with her sisters, and summers at the camp in Sidney. She was predeceased by her parents; husband George; sisters Theresa Bunker, Ruth Totten, and Charlotte Doucette; and brothers Frank, Fred, Ralph, and Wallace Berard. Gertrude is survived by her children, Pauline Armstrong and husband Tom of Jefferson, N.H., Michael Gagnon and wife Regina of Shawmut, James Gagnon and wife Millie Santiago of Southport, Arthur Gagnon and friend Tracy Walker of China; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Honerine Lafreniere, Beatrice Poulin, and Germaine Berard; brother Arthur Berard and wife Jean; sisters-in-law Elsie Sullivan and Henrietta Berard; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of Sunset Home for their loving care and support, and Beacon Hospice for their support. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 116 Silver St., Waterville. Arrangements are by Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm St., Waterville.
