She was born on May 26, 1924, in Horry County, a daughter of the late Anna and Spurgeon Baxley. As a child, she was adopted by her aunt and uncle, Allen and Lizzie Baxley Beverly. Collins, 89, peacefully entered into eternal rest surrounded by her loving family at Agape Senior Care Center on Sunday, June 30, 2013. She was born on May 26, 1924, in Horry County, a daughter of the late Anna and Spurgeon Baxley. As a child, she was adopted by her aunt and uncle, Allen and Lizzie Baxley Beverly. A true southern matriarch, she embodied the virtues expressed in Proverbs 31 and dedicated her life to God, her husband of 59 years, the late Robert Redden Collins, and her three daughters. Her strong faith guided her in all walks of life and she was a true witness for God whether tending to her household or working on the family farm or preparing meals at Pauley Swamp School and South Conway Elementary. Mrs. Collins was a faithful and life-long member of Pauley Swamp Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Mayoma B. Strickland, and her brothers, Garland Baxley and Oliver Beverly. Surviving are: three daughters, Evelyn Dittbenner (August "Dit") Eloise Prince (A.D.), Josephine Fogle (Danny), all of Conway; five grandchildren, Robbie Prince (Shannon), Jodi F. Barker (Brett), Tina D. Morgan (Joey), Meredith F. Barber (Troy), and August Dittbenner; and nine great grandchildren, Hailey and Jackson Prince, Chapel, Eli, Conor, and Jude Barker, Reese and Chance Barber, and John Redden Morgan; sister, Sandra Booth and her loving caregiver, Linda Prince Rabon. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday from Pauley Swamp Baptist Church with Rev. Terrance Grainger officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence of Jo and Danny Fogle and at the funeral home from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Monday.
