The wife of Simon P. Wippel, Mrs. Wippel had been visiting a son, Harold Wippel and a sister, Mrs. Vera Mackin, in Portland for the past two weeks. Mrs. Wippel was born Gertrude Muller in St. James, Minn, in 1876, and came to the valley with her parents when she was seven years old. She was married here in 1902 to Mr. Wippel. They moved to the Wippel farm near Woldale school in 1911 and made their home there ever since. Besides her husband, three sons and two daughters survive. They are Leo and Melvin Wippel of Ellensburg, and Harold Wippel of Portland, and Louise and Helen Wippel of Ellensburg. Seven sisters, Mrs. Laura Furlong of Baker, Ore., Sister Cornata of Pendleton, Mrs. Della Ward of Menlo Park, Calif., Mrs. Katherine Steiner of Palo Alto, Calif., Emma Muller of Boise, Idaho, Mrs. Viola Rissler of Honolulu and Mrs. Mackin of Portland, and a brother, Jake Muller of La Mesa, New Mexico also survive. Ellensburg Daily Record, April 23, 1941 From The Ellensburg (WA) Dawn, Sat, Apr. 19, 1902, page 2 Wippel-Mueller On Tuesday morning St. Andrew's church was the scene of a beautiful wedding, the contracting parties being Mr. Simon P. Wippel and Miss Gertrude Mueller. Long before the hour set for the ceremony the church was crowded with many friends. The decorations were beautiful, the sanctuary being a bower of palms, ferns, roses and carnations: just inside the sanctuary was a beautiful arch of roses and carnations, from the center of which was suspended a large cluster of silver wedding bells, the prevailing colors being pink and white: in the back ground was the beautiful alter, with its glow of lights, making in all a grand scene. Promptly at 9 o'clock the bridal party entered: the groom and bridesmaid, Miss Laura Mueller, preceded, followed by the bride and Mr. Simon P. Fogarty, best man: all proceeded to the alter to the strains of Mendelsohns wedding march, played by Prof. Connolly, and took their places beneath the beautiful arch, where they were met by Rev. Father Sweens, who pronounced the words that made them man and wife, after which Peter's Mass in "D" was sung, with orchestra accompaniment: Miss Mamie Brennan sang the offertory "Mater Admirabelis." After the services the happy couple were driven to the home of the bride, where the wedding breakfast was served. Mr. and Mrs. Wippel left on the afternoon train for Portland. These young people need no introduction, as they are both well known and highly esteemed by all. Mr. Wippel is one of Ellensburg's most highly respected young men and is the manager of the Kittitas Creamery company, of this city. He has won for himself the admiration of all by his sterling good qualities and straight forward business methods. His bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Mueller, and is a most charming young lady and has a large circle of friends. Contributor: Rick Read (47476599)
