Read More	"FORMER WINDSOR WOMAN DIES SUNDAY IN DENVER Mrs. Gertrude Bartz, 70, widow of Dr. L. E. Bartz, former residents of Windsor for many years, died Sunday morning, April 18, at 8:40 in a Denver hospital. She became ill Friday at her apartment in Denver. Mrs. Bartz, the former Gertrude Kemper, was born June 6, 1877, in Prairie City, Mo. She spent her girlhood in Missouri and she and Dr. Bartz were married there in 1897. Two children, both of whom passed away in infancy, were born to them while Dr. and Mrs. Barts were living in Missouri. Early in 1900 they came to Windsor and Dr. Bartz began his practice in the building now occupied by Dr. J.A. Walker, Herman Brolien, and J.W. Vaughn. Shortly after coming to Windsor they built a large and beautiful home at the corner of Main and West streets, now the property of Mr. and Mrs. John Brunner. In 1915 they built the Bartz Memorial hospital adjoining their home in memory of their three children who died in infancy. The hospital building is now the Yauk apartments. Two years after Dr. Bartz's death in 1839, Mrs. Bartz sold the home and hospital and since then has divided her time between her girlhood home in Missouri; with a niece, Mrs. Joe Thomas, at Newcastle, Nebr.; and at her Denver apartment. While in Windsor, Mrs. Bartz was an active member of the Methodist church and the choir and served many years as teacher in the Sunday School; also as superintendent of the junior and senior departments. Her husband was a member of the building committee which had the present beautiful church building erected in Windsor. She was also a member of Columbia Chapter No 16, Order of Eastern Star, and was past worthy matron of this organization. Funeral services were held at 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist church, with the Rev. Vernon Hanks in charge. Pallbearers were C.L. Graves, Earl Stonemetz, G.K. Dickerson, C.A. Chipman, Revilo Reid and Geo. E. Tozer. Interment was in Grandview Cemetery in Fort Collins beside the graves of her husband and her baby who died in 1914. She is survived by a brother, Ben Kemper, of Mitchell, Nebr., two nieces and two nephews. She was a sister-in-law of Philip A. Bartz of Fort Collins."
