Deceased had not been feeling very well for a few days and her condition was not considered serious at first but complications developed and Drs. Penney and Davis were summoned and all that kindly nursing and medical skill could do was done for her, but of no avail, although hope was held out to the last. Gertie was a quiet, unassuming woman and was held in high esteem in the neighbourhood as she passed nearly all her life here and was a friend to all, never refusing to lend the helping hand when asked. She leaves a sorrowing husband and family of seven children whose ages vary from 14 years to 1 year; also a mother, Mrs. Sarah Woodworth; three sisters, Winnie of Brookfield; Olive of Mahone, and Dorothy of Middleton; and three brothers, Earl Demone of Gowganda; Carl of Raleigh, North Carolina; and Roy of Windsor, to mourn their irreparable loss. Her remains were interred in the cemetery here on Saturday morning, Rev. Gartung officiating at the services. He preached a very appropriate sermon from the text,"Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of Man cometh." The floral offerings were profuse and beautiful.
