Description	:	It is with extreme sadness, that the family of Gertrude Grace Faulkenham have to announce her passing, at the age of 84. She was predeceased by her loving husband of over 60 years, Lowell Faulkenham. They were married September 11, 1956. She also lost a precious nephew Derrick Lowe in 1986 due to a car accident. She is survived by her son Brian (Lynn Christian) and daughter Joanne (Dave) Hadley. Her grandchildren, Amanda Faulkenham( Matt Whynot), Jolene (Marc) MacDonald, Tyler Kenney (Veronique Frechette), and Gary (Krista) Faulkenham. Her great grandchildren, Taylor, Brooke, Dane, Brady, Ainsley and Asher. Her grandchildren, Amanda Faulkenham( Matt Whynot), Jolene (Marc) MacDonald, Tyler Kenney (Veronique Frechette), and Gary (Krista) Faulkenham. Her great grandchildren, Taylor, Brooke, Dane, Brady, Ainsley and Asher. Her beloved sister Luella Greenough and her brother John Lowe. As well as many nieces, nephews and cousins and wonderful friends. Gertrude's proudest achievement was being the matriarch of her family and she was "Mom" to everyone who came to her door. Her pantry at the farm always had treats and was the usual first stop when you arrived to visit. Her hands were constantly busy. She was an avid cook and baker. A skill that she proudly passed down to a couple of generations. Besides helping to run the family farm, she used to knit sweaters, socks, hats and mitts. Plus sew and mend clothes. Gertrude worked with her fellow church ladies to make hundreds of quilts that were shipped over seas to anyone in need. As well as the thousands that she helped to feed at community weddings, funerals and community suppers. She had a book of menus and qualities needed to feed large groups of people. When that book came out, we knew that she was in planning mode. Any event she was in charge of, would go off without a hitch because she covered every detail. Gertrude took great pride in her Church and community work. Her hugs were the best and her words were kind and wise. In her later years, Gertrude was able to move to an apartment and still be at Lowell's side while he was in the nursing home. She enjoyed her neighbours, some were old friends that she got to enjoy again and others became new dear friends. Gertrude loved to learn new things and continued to do so into her 80's. She had completed Grade 12 and moved to Liverpool back in the 50's, to work at a Pharmacy and was studying to become a Pharmacy Technician when she met Lowell . Her love for him and having children completely changed her future and she never looked back. Her love of books and learning was shared with her children. She taught us something every single day. When she discovered Google, she knew she needed a computer and her dear sister was engaged to teach her to use it. Then came email, Kindle and Facebook. She loved keeping in contact with family and friends. Gertrude's passing leaves a huge hole in the hearts of many…… but her love and teachings will carry on for generations.
