Description	:	Gertrude M. Kestner Kurtz, 94, of Napoleon, formerly of Malinta, passed away peacefully at Alpine Village in Napoleon, on September 2, 2016. She was born in Flatrock Township to the late Albert H. and Ella (Schwiebert) Kestner. On February 10, 1947, she married Carlton "Pat" A . Kurtz who preceded her in death on May 17, 1962. Gertie was a homemaker and an Avon Sales Representative until she was 90 years old. She enjoyed meeting people and was a great personality full of vim and vigor. Kestner Kurtz, 94, of Napoleon, formerly of Malinta, passed away peacefully at Alpine Village in Napoleon, on September 2, 2016. She was born in Flatrock Township to the late Albert H. and Ella (Schwiebert) Kestner. On February 10, 1947, she married Carlton "Pat" A . Kurtz who preceded her in death on May 17, 1962. Gertie was a homemaker and an Avon Sales Representative until she was 90 years old. She enjoyed meeting people and was a great personality full of vim and vigor. Gertie loved to polka dance and play cards. She was one who never knew a stranger and if you were one, you weren't a stranger for long. She was a devoted, lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Flatrock Twp. and a member of the Ladies Aid and Lutheran Women's Society, a member of the Henry County Senior Center, the Napoleon Legion Auxiliary, a Hospital Volunteer for over 30 years, as well a member of the Farm Bureau. She is lovingly survived by her children, Larry (Linda Hix) Conmay of Irving, Tx.; Carol (Ray) Carpenter of Liberty Center, Oh.; Charles (Donna) Kurtz of Malinta, Oh.; Susan (Tim) Katafias of Grand Blanc, Mi., Carolyn (Ted) Knight of Federalsburg, Mi.; 13 grandchildren; Lisa (Don) Meeker. Todd (Keri) Conmay, Paula Joy, Kimberly (Craig) Miller, Amy (Todd) Davis, Jason (Michelle) Kurtz, Brad Kurtz, Kevin Kurtz, Julie (Jason) O'Neil, Jennifer (Gabe) Luna, 15 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, and a sister; Irene Cordes of Napoleon, Oh. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pat and a brother Lawrence Kestner. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 5 , at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Flatrock Twp., with Pastors Gary Bernath and Lee Genter officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
