Description	:	Daughter of Rev. Dr. Edward Carl Hansen and Emma Catherine Tiemann. She graduated from High School at Johnson, Nebr. and attended the University of Nebraska for a short time. She worked at the Miller and Paine store, where she met Irma (Rathe) Bentzinger and she introduced Gertrude to her younger brother. On Oct 15, 1961, she was married to Dalen Lavern Rathe of Sterling, Nebraska, at the United Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Nebraska. On Sep 30, 1962, their only child, Thomas Edward was born. Beside her son, she was survived by 4 grandchildren. a brother, Rolland Hansen and wife, Martha of Gettysburg, PA. 3 sister-in-laws, Ruth Hansen, Frieda Rathe, Marlene Janssen and one brother-in-law, Ralph Bentzinger. Preceded in death by husband , parents 2 brothers, the Rev. Paul G. Hansen and infant brother Eugene Hansen. Also inlaws August C. and Lena A. Rathe, Herbert Rathe, Lillian Rathe, Orvin Rathe, Irma Bentzinger, Ella Buss, John Buss, Darwin Janssen, uncles, aunts, nephews and nieces. Funeral services were held Jan. 4, 2011 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, of rural Sterling, Nebraska.
