Description	:	DEARKING, GERTRUDE OTILLIA—Gertrude Otillia Dearking was born to Henry and Bertha (Eichlar) Spielman on March 20, 1921, at Sutton. She passed away at the Sutton community Home in Sutton on June 29, 1995, at the age of 74 years, 3 months and 9 days. She was one of five children in the family. Read More	DEARKING, GERTRUDE OTILLIA—Gertrude Otillia Dearking was born to Henry and Bertha (Eichlar) Spielman on March 20, 1921, at Sutton. She passed away at the Sutton community Home in Sutton on June 29, 1995, at the age of 74 years, 3 months and 9 days. She was one of five children in the family. Gertrude was baptized and confirmed in the Zion Lutheran Church at Sutton by the Rev. John Goemnal. She graduated from the Sutton High School in 1939. On Dec. 23, 1946, she was united in marriage to Vernon H. Dearking of Geneva, at Scandia, Kan. She joined the United Methodist church in Geneva on Oct. 23, 1949. Gertrude was employed at the Geneva Produce for many years and helped with the candling of eggs. She continued her employment until the company closed. Following her retirement, she enjoyed taking care of her flowers and home, visiting with her neighbors and friends and calling on the elderly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Bertha Spielman; brother, Henry, sister, Martha Heinz; and husband, Vernon H. Dearking, who died Feb. 13, 1989. She is survived by sister, Iona Campbell; brother, Ben Spielman and wife Kathryn; nephews, nieces and many friends. Funeral services were conducted from the Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 3, with the Rev. Roddy Dunkerson officiating. Musical selections presented by the National Music system, were “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”, “In the Garden” and “Amazing Grace.” Casket bearers were John Campbell, Kent Carlson, Lambert Hopken, Dale Turner, Josh Turner and Shad Turner.
