Description	:	Gertrude Van Den Brink, 86, of Rock Valley, Iowa, formerly of Sioux Center, died Friday, March 8, 2013, at Whispering Heights Care Center in Rock Valley. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center, with the Rev. Everett Adams officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral home. Gertrude Van Den Brink was born Aug. 13, 1926, near Ireton, Iowa, to Steven and Jennie (Van Ravenswaay) Van Den Brink. She attended country school through the eighth grade. As a young woman, Gertrude lived in Sioux Center while working for families in their home. She was also employed at the Sioux Cooperative Produce egg processing plant. Later Gertrude lived in Rock Valley, where she worked in the Hegg Memorial Hospital laundry department for many years. Gertrude was a member of the Sioux Center Netherlands Reformed Congregation. Gertrude is survived by her son, Eugene Van Den Brink of North Kansas City, Mo.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Lavina Van Den Brink and John and Henrietta Van Den Brink, all of Sioux Center; two sisters, Henrietta Van Den Brink of Hull and Josephine Koedam of Rock Valley; along with several nieces and nephews. Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents; brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Tillie Van Den Brink Jr.; brother-in-law, Everett Koedam; and five infant siblings.
