Description	:	Information at the Penobscot Marine Museum in Searsport, Maine shows that in 1847, Getchell A. Maddocks was the commander of the 176-ton brig Alpheus Field built by Alpheus Field built in Searsport, Maine. Information passed down shows that he died on July 16, 1894. However, in Maine State Archives there is a G. L. Maddocks, 78 yrs. old, that shows death in Swanville on July 13, 1898, and shows that he was born in Kennebunk, Maine. The death record list his parents as Nahum Maddocks and Betsey Maddocks, and he was widowed and his occupation had been a farmer.... See marriage announcement in the Republican Journal dated June 9, 1854 on page 3. Married in Belfast, Maine. Unable to locate a grave for Getchell at Greenlawn Cemetery, but information in the Maddocks folder at Penobscot Marine Museum suggest that he is buried there.
