Stevens, who died six years ago, died Sunday morning at 11 o'clock at her home, 603 South Sixth street, after a long illness. Funeral services will be held at the Dee Riley Funeral Home, where the body will lie in state, at 11 a.m., Tuesday. The body then will be taken to Cantril, Iowa, and laid to rest in the family plot beside her husband and son. Rev. E.N. Garrett will conduct the services. Mrs. Stevens was born Oct. 28, 1855 in Phillipia, W. Va., a daughter of Samuel and Sarah Stemple. She grew to womanhood at Vernon, Ia., and was married Dec. 31, 1875 to Mr. Stevens. To this union were born seven children, six of whom survive. They are: Roy A. Stevens, Clarence J. Stevens, Verne F. Stevens and Nelle L. Stevens, of Kirksville; Thayne G. Stevens, Davenport, Ia., and Bliss A. Stevens, Dubuque, Ia. There are also ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. One son, Seba passed away 35 years ago. Mrs. Stevens was the last of eight children. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church since young womanhood. Although a sufferer for the past five years, she was known as kind, patient and thoughtful, and was highly esteemed by all who knew her.
