He was born on Dec. 5, 1941, in Luray and was a son of the late Rufus Gideon Campbell and Margie Irene Calhoun Printz. Mr. Campbell was a 1961 graduate of Luray High School and worked as a permit subdivision specialist senior for the Virginia Department of Transportation. Read More	Gilbert Cletus Campbell, 71, of 244 E. Main St., Luray, died on Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013. He was born on Dec. 5, 1941, in Luray and was a son of the late Rufus Gideon Campbell and Margie Irene Calhoun Printz. Mr. Campbell was a 1961 graduate of Luray High School and worked as a permit subdivision specialist senior for the Virginia Department of Transportation. He had also been employed for more than 25 years as a radio broadcaster with WSIG, WRAA and WHBG, for 11 years as a visitor assistant for Shenandoah National Park and as a Tupperware representative for more than 25 years. Mr. Campbell was a member of the Luray Church of the Brethren, the Luray Volunteer Fire Department for more than 45 years, a charter member of the Luray Volunteer Rescue Squad and had 51 years of perfect attendance with the Luray Ruritan Club. On April 4, 1964, he married Patricia Smith Campbell, who died on Feb. 7, 1968. On Aug. 8, 1971, he married Connie Elizabeth Kibler Campbell, who survives. Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Clayton E. "Clay" Campbell and wife Deanna Dean Campbell, and Andrew B. Campbell, all of Luray; two brothers, Clifton C. Campbell of Luray, and Leonard E. Campbell of New Market; three sisters, Doris C. Cave and Virginia D. Itterly, both of Luray, and Mildred E. Simmers of Montpelier; his stepfather, Joe J. Printz of Rileyville; his stepmother, Thelma Campbell of Luray; and two grandsons, Isaac Ethan Campbell and Eli Asher Campbell, both of Luray. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ethel May Campbell; and three brothers, Gilbert R., James W. and David L. Campbell Sr. (Find A Grave Memorial# 48485931). A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, at the Luray Church of the Brethren by Pastor Rebecca Harding and the Rev. Paul D. Mishler. Memorial contributions may be made to the Luray Church of the Brethren's Children's Ministry or to the Luray Volunteer Fire Department.
