Services will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, November 12, at Evangel Assembly of God Church in Bismarck, with Rev. Roger Will officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm Monday, November 11, at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Gilbert, known as Gil, was born August 13, 1922, to Henry and Frieda Holle of New Salem. Gil graduated from New Salem High School where he was active in 4H, FFA, Morton County Judging Team, and the high school basketball team. After graduating from high school, he attended North Dakota State University, graduated from Jamestown College, and graduated with a Master's Degree in education from the University of Iowa. Gil married LaVerne Moltzen on June 25, 1944, and they had two children, Cheryl and Jim. He served as principal of the Anne Carlsen School and was superintendent of schools at Almont, Kulm, and Napoleon. Gil was a member of the Regional Special Education Board, testified at legislation hearings in education, and was elected president of the North Dakota School Administrators. He committed his life to Christ, was water baptized, and filled with the Holy Spirit. Gil faithfully attended Sunday school and church. He enjoyed teaching Sunday school, holding home bible studies, and visiting people in prison and in hospitals. Gil enjoyed water skiing, snowmobiling, golfing, baseball, fishing, gardening, traveling to National Parks, and making seashell flower arrangements. Gil is survived by his wife, LaVerne; his daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl (Wayne) Aberle; his son and daughter-in-law, Jim (Dee) Holle; grandchild, Darcy (wife Kelly) Aberle and their son, Brady; grandchild, Joshua (wife Heidi) Holle and their daughter, Nora; and grandchild, Jason (wife Megan) Holle. Gil was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
