Description	:	Gilbert Stevens, 54, Beattie, died Monday, April 19 in the Veterans hospital in Topeka where he had been a patient since December 15. He had been ill six years with leukemia. Services were held Thursday, April 22, at 10 a.m. from St. Malachy's Catholic Church at Beattie. Rosary was recited Wednesday evening at Padden's Funeral home at Frankfort. Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery, Lillis. He was born October 22, 1916 at Vermillion and spent most of his life in the Frankfort and Beattie communities. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Millie Stevens; one sister, Mrs. Mary Roeder, Burlington, and other relatives.
