Description	:	Gilbert "Gib" R. Greiter, 82, Morton, passed away peacefully July 21, 2010 surrounded by his family. He was born July 2, 1928 to Gregory H. and Bertha (Goble) Greiter in San Francisco, CA. He is survived by his wife Patty of 59 years; his twin sisters Jean White and Joan Canfield of the Tri-Cities; three daughters: Kim (Terry) LaFrance of Mineral, Tami Greiter of Corvalis, OR, Judy (Warren) Freece of Toledo; daughter-in-law Christie Greiter of Morton; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his son Gregory Lewis Greiter and his parents. Gib moved to Washington when he was five years old. He started school in Randle and then moved to Morton in first grade. He graduated from Morton High School and joined the US Navy in 1946. He spent two years in the service as a pharmacist's mate. After his discharge he went to Centralia Junior College for two years then the University of Puget Sound where he graduated with a degree in education. He then returned to Morton High School and taught history and physical education. He coached basketball, baseball and assisted with football. In 1966 he became principal and athletic director. Gib retired 16 years later in 1982. He was a member of the Washington Teachers Association and the National Teachers Association. He was inducted into the Washington Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1987 and the Centralia College Sports Hall of Fame in 1993. He moved to Lake Mayfield Village in 1977 where he spent most of his retirement enjoying his grandchildren. After 20 years he and Patty moved back to Morton.
