Description	:	Gillis "Gill" Stegemann, age 89, of Harrison, Arkansas, passed away on Friday, September 16, 2011, at Hillcrest Home in Harrison. He was born on December 9, 1923, in Hooper, Nebraska, the son of Henry William & Elsie Helleana (Popken) Stegemann. He was preceded in death by his parents. Gill was a member of St Paul United Methodist Church. He grew up in Fremont, Nebraska and moved to southern Iowa in his teen years, attending high school in Osceola, Iowa. Read More	Gillis "Gill" Stegemann, age 89, of Harrison, Arkansas, passed away on Friday, September 16, 2011, at Hillcrest Home in Harrison. He was born on December 9, 1923, in Hooper, Nebraska, the son of Henry William & Elsie Helleana (Popken) Stegemann. He was preceded in death by his parents. Gill was a member of St Paul United Methodist Church. He grew up in Fremont, Nebraska and moved to southern Iowa in his teen years, attending high school in Osceola, Iowa. He served in the Army for three years during WWII and fought in the battle of the Bulge. After the war, Gill married Donna Mae Beeler at the little brown church in Nashua, Iowa on June 17, 1948. Gill farmed near Truro, Iowa while working at Delavon Mfg Co. in Des Moines, Iowa. He retired in 1980 and traveled full time for nine years. Gill then worked for the New Mexico Park service for three years. He retired to Harrison and lived here for the past 10 years. Gill is survived by his wife, Donna Mae Stegemann, of the home; his son and daughter-in-law, David & Michal Stegemann, of Cornelius, Oregon; his daughter and son-in-law, Susan & George Gleckler, of O'Neill, Nebraska; his brother and sister-in-law, John & Lucille Stegemann, of Ukiah, California; his sister, Deloris Isenberger, of Springfield, Missouri; and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ira and Phyllis Ward, of Tampa, Florida. Gill is also survived by four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and dear friends. Memorial service was Monday, September 19, 2011, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, with Pastor Mark Donald and Pastor Dave Smith officiating.
