Description	:	Gilmore Lorren Larson, 87, of Hawarden died suddenly Friday, May 25, 2012, at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, S.D. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawarden, with the Rev. Todd Bunge officiating. Gilmore, the son of Adolph and Gladys (Hustrulid) Larson, was born on April 12, 1925, near Elk Point, S.D. He was raised in the Hawarden area and farmed in this area early in his life. He enlisted in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper and was discharged when the war ended. On June 17, 1950, Gilmore married Myva Velgersdyk at her parents' home in Hawarden. They lived on a farm south of Alcester, S.D. In 1955, they moved to Hawarden, where Gilmore started working for the post office as a letter carrier. After a long career with the post office, he retired and drove the West Sioux school bus for eight years. While working, Gilmore enjoyed bowling and playing cards. The couple traveled the U.S. extensively and had many enjoyable camping days with the gang in Yankton, S.D. After they both retired, they became winter Texans, where they resided for more than 20 years. Gilmore couldn’t put down the bag and became an avid golfer and could be found at the course almost every nice morning, golfing with his regular buddies. Gilmore is survived by his son, Greg, and wife Leah of Fort Worth, Texas; two grandchildren, Byron and Celeste of Fort Worth; two brothers, Merlin Larson of Cathedral City, Calif., and Larry Larson of Sunset, Texas; and five sisters, Ardella Johnson of Gardena, Calif., Delores Westfall of Las Vegas, Nev., Lorraine Powell of Hermiston, Ore., Joyce Hamilton of Fort Worth, and Grace Van Muyden of Henderson, Nev. Gilmore was preceded in death by his wife, Myva; and parents, Adolph and Gladys. The family prefers memorials to be directed to the Hawarden Library OBIT Sioux City Journal
