Description	:	Mary Gladese Parsons, 92, widow of James H. Parson, died on August 5, 2015 at Hospice Care of the Piedmont in Greenwood, SC. She was born March 21, 1923 in Laurens County to the late R. L. Robertson and Ethel Garrett Robertson. After graduation from Ford High School, Mrs. Parson worked at Watts Mill as secretary to the plant manager. She married James Henry Parson on April 18, 1942. They were active in the Warrior Creek Baptist Church where she served as GA director, WMU circle leader, and for a short period led the Wednesday night prayer services.... Read More	Mary Gladese Parsons, 92, widow of James H. Parson, died on August 5, 2015 at Hospice Care of the Piedmont in Greenwood, SC. She was born March 21, 1923 in Laurens County to the late R. L. Robertson and Ethel Garrett Robertson. After graduation from Ford High School, Mrs. Parson worked at Watts Mill as secretary to the plant manager. She married James Henry Parson on April 18, 1942. They were active in the Warrior Creek Baptist Church where she served as GA director, WMU circle leader, and for a short period led the Wednesday night prayer services. Mrs. Parson served as a Cottage Parent for 125 children at Connie Maxwell Children's Home for 29 years and also served as a childcare trainer for UNC. Besides being a cottage parent, she served as Acteen Leader, GA Leader, WMU Leader, Sunday School teacher, Senior Saints Director, and led the Bible Drills for young children at Connie Maxwell Baptist Church. She is survived by a sister, Betty Miller of Mauldin, SC, and a brother Royce Robertson (Alice) of Camden, Arkansas. Mrs. Parson was predeceased by two brothers, Raymond and Charles Robertson of Laurens County, and two sisters, Margaret Burkett of Seneca, SC and Edna Owens of Spartanburg, SC. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Warrior Creek Baptist Church in Laurens County on Saturday August 8, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with the service to follow at 11:00. The Reverend Dr. Jay Collins and the Reverend Doug Kauffman will officiate. Mrs. Parson is cherished for her wisdom, wonderful humor, grace, service to others, and most affectionately by the children of Connie Maxwell she so passionately nurtured and loved.
