Description	:	TAYLOR - Gladys Annie Jarvis Hyde, 98, of Taylor died Monday, June 18, 2012, at Valley County Health Systems Hospital in Ord. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell. Burial will be in the Madison Square Cemetery west of Taylor. Pastor Alan Petersen will officiate. Mrs. Hyde was born Feb. 25, 1914, to Millard F. and Annie M. Jarvis on at their home in Loup County (Dry Valley). She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, a son, David, and a daughter, Carrie Marr. Survivors of the immediate family include a daughter and son-in-law, Annelda and Delbert Helzer of Loveland, Colo.; a daughter-in-law, Donna Hyde of Ord; a son-in-law, Max Marr of Loveland, Colo.; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Lois Wilkin of Kearney and Marcia Hyde Des Moines, Iowa; nieces, nephews and extended family members. She attended grade school at Dry Valley and upon the death of her father the family moved to Taylor, where she graduated from high school in 1932. Gladys and D. Wayne Hyde were married on Nov. 11, 1934, at Holdrege. She and Wayne raised their children David, Carrie and Annelda on the family ranch in Loup County. Gladys was a member of the Clever Clique club for 66 years. She was active in the Order of the Easter Star, school and 4-H activities and helping with the blood drive in Burwell. She had various interests including traveling, gardening, reading, cross word puzzles, quilting, knitting, crocheting, and visiting with family and friends. She was the Queen of the Loup County Fair - the oldest person in Loup County in 2008. In 2009, she was presented the Nebraska Pioneer Farm Award celebrating continued ownership of the The Hyde Ranch for 114 years. Gladys will be remembered for her gentle spirit, kind heart and her smile could light up the room. Gladys was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Jessica Marr, parents and siblings.
