Description	:	Gladys Carolina Kroeger, daughter of Otto and Augusta (Jordan) Kroeger, was born on June 29, 1925, on a farm near Hartford, SD. She attended Pleasant Valley District #68 country school and graduated from Hartford High School in 1942. Gladys was a warm, caring woman of devotion, values and loyalty. Read More	Gladys Carolina Kroeger, daughter of Otto and Augusta (Jordan) Kroeger, was born on June 29, 1925, on a farm near Hartford, SD. She attended Pleasant Valley District #68 country school and graduated from Hartford High School in 1942. Gladys was a warm, caring woman of devotion, values and loyalty. She was an active lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church where she was baptized, confirmed, and married to the love of her life, Harold Henry Rehder on May 2, 1945. They were a team that grew their family in faith and farming. Maintaining a home and caring for her family was a labor of love for her. Using the wringer washer for laundry, hanging clothes on the line, gardening/canning, raising Zurn Hatchery chicks were all part of the joys in her life. She had driven the binder when needed, and lent a hand for years washing up after milking--the separator, milkers and bulk tank. Ever practical, Gladys tackled the necessary jobs of painting the barn and building the milk room. She was a drill sergeant when it was time to walk the bean fields (mandatory participation of family & guests). Gladys loved dancing (especially with Harold), playing cards (For more than 70 yrs, the first Tuesday of every month was “500” with neighborhood ladies), playing board games, working word puzzles, relaxing with Solitaire and visiting with family & friends. Gladys’ faith in God guided her life. Cherished times of spiritual growth and fellowship were spent with the ladies group at church. During her many years as a Sunday School teacher, her assurance that by Grace you have been saved through faith, not of ourselves, but a gift of God was her core teaching to guide her students in their life’s journey. Grateful for having shared her life are four children, Fred (Carol) Rehder, Hartford, SD; Lorin Rehder, Hartford, SD and (Naomi Fuerstenau), Sioux Falls, SD; Marlys (Stan) McKercher, High Springs, FL; and Julie (Ron) Callahan, Sioux Falls, SD; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; Sara (Brent Wright) Rehder-Wright, and their daughter, Sophia, Hartford, SD; April (Dustin) Steen, and their children, Blake and Katie, Larchwood, IA; Hannah (Shane) Poe, and their son, Jase, Bristol, VA; Adam McKercher, Orlando, FL; Rachael (Devin) Smith, and their son Luke, High Springs, FL; and Audrey Callahan, Irvine, CA; brother Ernest (Jean) Kroeger, Hartford, SD; sister-in-law Mae Kroeger, Hartford, SD; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
