Gladys Caroline Thurman was born June 11, 1908 in Jones Co, IA, the daughter of Carl and Mary (Hayen) Thuman. She spent her childhood and grew to adulthood on a farm near Amber and received her education in the Amber School District. In Oct 1953 she married in Clinton to Phillip DeWitt who preceded her in death in 1961. She was previously married to Vincent Tischauser of Sils, Switzerland in 1926 and Carl Watford in 1944. Prior to her retirement in 1973 from Penn-Mor in Tempe, AZ, Mrs Dewitt worked as a seamstress in the garment industry. She moved from Mesa, AZ to Montrose eight years ago to be near her son. Duane Watford where she made her home until the time of her death. Survivors include one daughter, Dorothy Tischauser Sanders of Litchfield, Z, one son Duane Tischauser Watford and wife, Shirlsy of Montrose, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, on sister Lorene Skalsky of Clovis, CA, and seven nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. DeWitt was also preceded in death by a sister, Hattie Grant and a brother William H. Thurman
