Gladys was born June 19, 1918, in Sioux City, the daughter of Christopher and Ina (Rowse) Lillie. She attended school and graduated from East High School in 1936. She entered the U.S. Navy and served during World War II as one of the WAVEs. She married Marlow W. Jorgensen on Sept. 14, 1947, in Sioux City. He died Oct. 28, 2003. She had worked at the Sioux City Iron Company, Milwaukee Railroad and later at the Sioux City Community Schools until her retirement. She was a member of Rustin Avenue United Methodist Church. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed baking at Christmas time, doing crafts, puzzles and reading. Survivors include five children and spouses, Ken and Tina Jorgensen of Monument, Colo., Elizabeth and Jeff Delzell of Sioux City, Bill Jorgensen of The Netherlands, Don and Barbara Jorgensen of Sioux City and Gary and Patti Jorgensen of Apache Junction, Ariz.; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a sister, Lucille (Lillie) Kirschbaum of Mesa, Ariz.; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Nancy Hair; two grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a brother, Robert M. Lillie. Pallbearers will be Don Jorgensen, Chris Delzell, Matthew Delzell, James Jorgensen, TJ Markowsky and Mike Markowsky. Christy-Smith Funeral Homes and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
