Read More	Gladys Ermal Roles was born near Martland, Fillmore County, Nebraska, January 25, 1894. She departed this life January 3, 1913, aged 18 years, 11 months and 7 days. She leaves to mourn her death, father, mother, two sisters, two brothers, many relatives and friends. For some time she has been in poor health and last summer was taken very sick. Her doctor and friends felt that she could not recover, but by the best of care and her desire to recover she began to get better and was soon able to be up. In the latter part of the summer, she went on a visit to her grandparents at Virginia, Neb. Returning home from there, she seemed to be getting along very well, but as we look back, we feel sure that she had been suffering for some time. Her beautiful Christian character was manifested at all times and this is what made her life so cheerful. Even to the last, she realized that she must go and was ready. She gave her heart to her Lord when about ten years old and was faithful to Him until her death. The deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Roles of Chelsea Township. The funeral took place from the Christian Church in Geneva at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, and was conducted by Rev. George W. Beam of Bethany. The interment was in the Geneva Cemetery. Roles, near Geneva, Neb., their oldest daughter, Miss Gladys Ermal Roles, January 3, 1918, aged 18 years, 11 months and 7 days. She was born near Martland, Fillmore County, January 25, 1894. She leaves to mourn her loss, father, mother, two sisters and two brothers, besides a score of relatives and friends. She gave herself to Christ early in life and became a member of the Christian church at Geneva, Neb. She has been ever faithful and true. Her trust was in the One who said, “Because I live, ye shall live also.” She was always pure, true, generous, kind and loving. Although her life was made up of sorrow and pain, her life was truly made up of contrast. She met every obstacle in life bravely and boldly. When Death, with dark and heavy hand, knocked at her door, she met the grim messenger as she met every other phase in life, cheerfully and willingly. For some time, she has suffered with tuberculosis of the stomach, which ended her life as far as this world is concerned. The passing of years is like the coming of dawn, slow, silent, inevitable. The most eager cannot hasten the quiet irresistible movement and the most reluctant cannont forbid some gifts the years bring which we would fain decline—age, sorrow, disappointment. Some treasures they take which we would keep forever, youth, beauty, innocence. But there are more precious treasures which time cannot remove—memory, friendship, virture, patience, faith and love. Time has robbed us of our dear daughter, in her youth, but not of her beautiful virtuous life. Her beauty will never fade. Her friendship will never cease, in patience she never tired. Her faith was without end. Her love, words can never express. The sweetest name to her friends and loved ones is Gladys. “Dearest Gladys, thou hast left us, And our loss we deeply feel; But ‘tis God that has bereft us, He can all our sorrows heal. Yet again, we hope to meet thee When the days of life have fled; When in Heaven with joy to greet thee, Where no farewell tears are shed.” The funeral took place from the Christian Church in Geneva, Neb., at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, January 5th.
