Read More	* IN LOVING MEMORY OF ** Gladys Etta (Roskens) Blass was born on Sunday; March 18, 1917 in Everly; Clay County, Iowa. She was the daughter of: Thomas and Dena (Boyenga) Roskens. Gladys graduated from Everly High School in 1933 and attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls; Black Hawk County, Iowa. She taught in rural schools for six years. Gladys married Weldon (Bob) Blass on Friday; April 18, 1941 at the First English Lutheran Church in Spencer; Clay County, Iowa. Their early years together were spent farming north of Cornell; Linn County, Iowa. They then moved to Spencer, Iowa and continued farming near Langdon; Clay County, Iowa and Fostoria; Clay County, Iowa. A farm was purchased west of Terril; Dickinson County, Iowa in 1951 where they raised their five children. In 1983, they moved to a permanent residence on Endersons Canal in Wahpeton; Dickinson County, Iowa where Gladys continued to live prior to moving to Riverview Terrace in June 2012. For over 30 years she and Bob enjoyed wintering in McAllen; Hidalgo County, Texas. Gladys Etta (Roskens) Blass, age: 95, passed away on Tuesday; October 23, 2012 at the Saint Luke Nursing Home in Spencer, Iowa. Those left to mourn her passing are: Her children: Judy Burke of Denver; Denver County, Colorado, Mary Jane (Dean) Peterson of Hartley, Iowa, Sally Iverson of Saint Paul; Ramsey County, Minnesota, Jim (Lynne) Blass of Woodbury; Washington County, Minnesota and Nancy (Brent) Carlson of Franktown; Douglas County, Colorado. Her fifteen grandchildren and her twelve great-grandchildren. Her sister: Alma (Tootie) Birchard and her sister-in-law: Lois Simmons, both of Spencer, Iowa. Also many nieces, nephews and friends. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband: Weldon, who passed away on Tuesday; October 19, 1999; her parents. Also her two brothers and two sisters. May they rest in peace. May God bless her memory and give strength to those that mourn. Visitation will be from: 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday; October 25, 2012 at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer, Iowa. Funeral services will begin at: 1:00 p.m. onn Friday; October 26, 2012 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Terril; Dickinson County, Iowa with the Reverend David Doellinger officiating. Interment will be at the North Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Spencer, Iowa.
