Description	:	Gladys Evelyn Burner Huffman, age 97, born Sept. 27, 1911, at the Burner homeplace, Massanutton Heights, in Luray, Va., formerly of Leaksville Road in Stanley, Va., died July 5, 2009, at Timberville Crossing Assisted Living. She was the daughter of James Kemper and Mary Kate Shirley Burner. She graduated from Luray High School in 1927 and received her nursing degree from Orange Memorial Hospital in New Jersey in 1932. Read More	Gladys Evelyn Burner Huffman, age 97, born Sept. 27, 1911, at the Burner homeplace, Massanutton Heights, in Luray, Va., formerly of Leaksville Road in Stanley, Va., died July 5, 2009, at Timberville Crossing Assisted Living. She was the daughter of James Kemper and Mary Kate Shirley Burner. She graduated from Luray High School in 1927 and received her nursing degree from Orange Memorial Hospital in New Jersey in 1932. She worked at Rockingham Memorial Hospital and Page Memorial Hospital. She retired from Page Memorial in 1968. She was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Stanley, Va. On June 4, 1938, she married Leonard Levi Huffman, who preceded her in death on Feb. 5, 1994. Her daughter, Mary Burner Huffman, was killed in an automobile accident in front of their home on May 5, 1956. She was seven years old. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, John Rexford Burner, and Roy Capataine Burner. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, L. Ashby and Nancy Huffman and Jay K. and Lois Huffman; her grandchildren, Martha Spyrison of Evanston, Ill., and her husband, Scott, Thomas Huffman of Luray, Myra Patton of Sahuarita, Ariz., and her husband, Steve, and Tara Meadows of Harrisonburg and her husband, Chris; her great-grandchildren, Tabbytha, Ella, and Sarah Spyrison, and Anya Patton. The Revs. Mark Briehl and Patricia K. Covington will conduct the funeral 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at St. Luke Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Luray. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, at Bradley Funeral Home in Luray.
