Description	:	Gladys Gertrude Thrapp, the daughter of Claude and Ora (South) McGlade, was born August 21, 1911 at Lowery City, Missouri. She died on Friday, January 16, 2004 at the Good Samaritan Center in Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 92 years, 4 months and 26 days. Gladys was born in Lowery City, Missouri and moved with her folks to Santee, Nebraska in about l916. Her mother died in l918 and a year later they moved to Southwest Iowa. Read More	Gladys Gertrude Thrapp, the daughter of Claude and Ora (South) McGlade, was born August 21, 1911 at Lowery City, Missouri. She died on Friday, January 16, 2004 at the Good Samaritan Center in Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 92 years, 4 months and 26 days. Gladys was born in Lowery City, Missouri and moved with her folks to Santee, Nebraska in about l916. Her mother died in l918 and a year later they moved to Southwest Iowa. Gladys attended country school near Emerson, Iowa. She worked as a young teenager cleaning homes. She was united in marriage to Ernest R. Thrapp on June 21, 1932 at Maryville, Missouri. In 1934, she started a job with the Cold Storage Plant in Malvern, Iowa. Ernest and Gladys farmed in Southwest Iowa, moving to a farm outside of Red Oak in l949. After their moved to the Red Oak area she went to work for Union Carbide Battery Company in l949, retiring 25 years later. After Ernest's death, Gladys remained on the farm until l988 when she moved into Red Oak. Gladys became a resident of Good Samaritan Center in August of 2001. Gladys enjoyed Country Music and Crocheting. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ernest on December 10, 1977 and two brothers, William and Homer. Gladys is survived by a son, Ernest F. Thrapp and his wife Jacqueline of Flushing, Michigan; two grandchildren, Cindy Takai and husband Tom of Macomb, Michigan and Gary Thrapp and wife Pattie Jean of San Diego, California; two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Christopher Takai; a brother, Clyde McGlade and his wife Hazel of Rohnert Park, California, other relative and friends. May God bless her memory and give strength to those who mourn. Graveside services will be held Monday, January 19, 2004 at 2:00 PM At the Emerson Cemetery, Emerson, Iowa Rev. Steve McKinney, Officiating Memorials to Hawthorne Methodist Church Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
