Gladys Gertrude Williams, the daughter of Thomas and Christina Coyle, was born January 4, 1903, near Anthon. She lived her entire life in the Anthon community. She had worked for many years as a telephone operator in Anthon, and for the past 15 years, she had been employed at the Anthon school. Gladys was married to Walter Williams on October 31, 1934, at Adel, Iowa. They were the parents of one son and one daughter. Her husband preceded her in April of this year. She was a member of the Methodist Church, and at the time of her death was serving as church treasurer. She was a member of the Women's Society of Christian Service, and a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star at Anthon. Survivors include the son, Walter Thomas of Marshalltown; one granddaughter, Susan Williams; five sisters, Mrs. Mabel Arnold and Mrs. Rachel Neifert, both of Anthon; Mrs. Grace Cole of Sioux City; Mrs. James Babcock of Caldwell, Idaho; and Mrs. Stanley Gothier of Burbank, California; two brothers, William Coyle of Anthon and George Coyle of Cascade, Iowa. She was preceded by her husband, her daughter, parents and two sisters.
