Her memorial service was Friday October 8, 2010 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with Rev. John Paulson officiating. Inernment was in the Solberg Cemetery rural Woonsocket, SD. Her memorial service was Friday October 8, 2010 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with Rev. John Paulson officiating. Inernment was in the Solberg Cemetery rural Woonsocket, SD. Gladys Irene Boyd was born on December 18, 1919 to James and Reva (Lewis) Boyd at rural Wolsey, South Dakota. She graduated from Wessington Springs High School in the spring of 1938. On March 24, 1940 she was united in marriage to Leonard J. Moldrem. Their lives were blessed with two children Sharill Ann and Lyle J. Gladys was active in the Happy Homemakers Club and the Flower and Garden Club. She enjoyed planting flowers and had a real green thumb for gardening. She and Leonard were instrumental in starting the Merry Maids and the Western Rangers 4-H Clubs. In 1969 she started working at the Weskota Manor Nursing Home as the Activities Director until her retirement. During that time she recorded and wrote and had a book published title "Interviews." The book was published in 1978. She interviewed many residents that were residing at the manor during the time she worked there. When she retired from the manor, she went on to teach two classes of aerobics twice a day for two years. Through her persuasion and perseverance she convinced the city that a city transportation bus was needed. Today, many people have benefited from the bus service in Wessington Springs. For the last many years she was an avid Minnesota Twins fan. She could name all the players, tell you what position they played and give you their stats. Gladys was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. She belonged to the ladies circle, and in the past had taught Sunday school and Bible School. She really loved her Jesus. Gladys is survived by her daughter Sharill Ann Beach of Arvada, Colo. and her son Lyle J. and his wife Donna of Wessington Springs, grandchildren Jim and his wife Brandi Rothrock of St. Joseph, MO, Suzanne Mayfield of Colorado, Brigitte Murphy and her Andy of Wessington Springs, and Kortne Moldrem of Sioux Falls, great grandchildren Chelsea and Colby Rothrock, Tein and Isaiah Mayfield, a brother James Boyd Jr. of Colorado and a sister-in-law Viola Linn of Wessington Springs and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leonard in 1998, 2 brothers Elmer and Virgil, a sister Lois Mins and a grandson David Jonathon Connors.
