She was born Sept. 3, 1924, in Abbot, the daughter of John and Gladys (Tozier) French. She was raised by her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bishop of Guilford. She spent many wonderful summers at their camp in Rockwood. She met Howard E. Huntington, a national track star, at a Foxcroft Academy meet. He was the love of her life. They married March 9, 1945. Gladys and her husband were lifelong members of Dover-Foxcroft United Methodist Church, where Gladys served as a Sunday school teacher and was a member of 3-M Club and Esther Circle. They were also life members of Piscataquis YMCA. Gladys was a member of Rebekah's, and enjoyed knitting, sewing and camping at Peaks-Kenny State Park. Gladys was predeceased by her husband, Howard; her sister, Grace Currier; and her daughter, Sandra J. Pratt. She is survived by two daughters, ...; five grandchildren, ...; and three great-grandchildren, .... She will also be remembered by .... Friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, at Lary Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, at Dover-Foxcroft United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Dodie Sheffield officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dover-Foxcroft United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 62, Dover-Foxcroft, ME 04426.
