Description	:	Ellendale, N.D. - Gladys June Schock, 79, of Ellendale, N.D., daughter of Adolph and Katherine (Klein) Schmidt, was born June 29, 1926, in rural Ellendale, N.D. She was a self-taught musician and a pianist at All-State Chorus. Gladys graduated from Ellendale High School in 1945. She married Art Schock in June of 1945 and they lived and farmed near Ellendale until they moved into Ellendale in 1963. Read More	Ellendale, N.D. - Gladys June Schock, 79, of Ellendale, N.D., daughter of Adolph and Katherine (Klein) Schmidt, was born June 29, 1926, in rural Ellendale, N.D. She was a self-taught musician and a pianist at All-State Chorus. Gladys graduated from Ellendale High School in 1945. She married Art Schock in June of 1945 and they lived and farmed near Ellendale until they moved into Ellendale in 1963. Gladys worked at Dickey Rural Telephone, Ellendale Medical Clinic, Ellendale branch of the University of North Dakota and was employed for over 25 years at NAPA. Gladys was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ellendale where she served as organist for over 60 years. She was an active member of Eastern Star and served as their "Grand Organist" for the State of North Dakota. She was also a member of the Ellendale Historical Society and Ellendale Alumni Association. Gladys enjoyed playing the piano and organ and growing flowers. Gladys died Aug. 30, 2005, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen, S.D. Grateful to have shared in her life are her husband, Art Schock of Ellendale, N.D.; two daughters: Judy (Bruce) Redding of Mobridge, S.D., and Peggy (Steve) Wilke of Elgin, S.C.; seven grandchildren: Jody (Todd) Quigley of New Castle, Wyo., Ginger (Heath) Ewing of Rosemount, Minn., Brady (Nicole) Wilke of Columbia, S.C., Casey Wilke of Camden, S.C., Mike Walsh of Eugene, Ore., Jamie (Mike) Hunnicutt of Columbia, S.C., and Sara (John) Sims of Columbia, S.C.; eight great-grandchildren: Cameron, Carson, Daniel, Haley, Max, Colin, Parker and Ava; and one sister: Esther Decker of Aberdeen, S.D. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one nephew. The funeral is 2 Saturday at Hoven Funeral Chapel with Pastor Steve Tvedt officiating. Visitation is 2-8:30 Friday with a prayer service at 7:30 at Hoven Funeral Chapel and one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial is at the Ellendale City Cemetery. Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale, is in charge of arrangements. Published in the Aberdeen News on 9/2/2005.
