Description	:	GLADYS BECK Gladys L. Beck was a longtime resident of the Minden community. She died at the age of 80 years on Sunday evening, Sept. 23, 1984, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Gladys was born April 26, 1904 in Kearney County to Arthur and Rose Horsley. She attended rural school for eight grades, then attended Minden high School, graduating in 1922. Read More	GLADYS BECK Gladys L. Beck was a longtime resident of the Minden community. She died at the age of 80 years on Sunday evening, Sept. 23, 1984, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Gladys was born April 26, 1904 in Kearney County to Arthur and Rose Horsley. She attended rural school for eight grades, then attended Minden high School, graduating in 1922. She taught rural school near Paxton, Nebraska for two years. On August 28, 1924, Gladys married Hans Beck and moved to a farm two miles east of Minden. To this union were born a son, Merle, and a daughter, Evelyn. Gladys and Hans Beck retired to Minden in 1965 and remained here until their death. Hans preceded her in death in 1968. Gladys was an active member of the Christian Church. She did volunteer work at Long Term Care and Bethany Home and helped with Meals on Wheels. She was also an active member of the Daneville and the Willing Workers clubs. Left to mourn her passing are her son, Merle Beck and wife, Vernelle of Bennington, Nebraska, and daughter, Evelyn Miller and husband, Joe of Minden; 9 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren; one brother, Harold Horsley and wife, Ruth, many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hans, and her parents, Arthur and Rose Horsley. She will be missed by all for her friendly ways and willingness to help others. Services were held at the First Christian Church of Minden, Sept. 26th, with Rev. Nolan Pierce presiding. Interment was in the Minden Cemetery. ~~Minden Courier October 2, 1984
