Description	:	MASON CITY - Gladys Lanora (Huntley Miner) Campney, 94, died Wednesday (Nov. 10, 1999) at the Muse-Norris Inpatient Unit, Mason City. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake, with the Rev. Fred Lewis officiating. Inurnment will be at Clear Lake Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services today at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Gladys Campney Memorial Fund. Gladys was born Oct. 5, 1905, at Aredale, the daughter of Henry "Harry" Harrison and Nellie Mae (Bray) Huntley. On March 1, 1912, the family moved to a farm south of Clear Lake. Gladys' education was at Hubbard rural school and some adult education. On Feb. 15, 1933, Gladys married Parle "Barney" Miner. They moved to Northwood on a farm they had bought and lived there for 35 years. During that time, Gladys was the first woman to be school director in Worth County. She was a 4-H leader for 10 years. Gladys joined the Methodist Church at the age of 16. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Clear Lake. She also was a member of the Royal Neighbors, Eastern Star, Rebekah Lodge, V.F.W., Women of the Moose, R.S.V.P., Lunch Bunch, and the Clear Lake Senior Citizens. On July 16, 1969, Parle died and Gladys moved back to Clear Lake. August 6, 1972, Gladys married Walter Campney of Burt. Walter retired in 1974 and moved to Clear Lake. Gladys drove the church van about three years. She drove to Handicap Village, where she transported the Methodist residents back and forth to Sunday school and church. Gladys loved flowers and trees and planted them around her home so many people could enjoy them. Gladys is survived by her husband, Walter Campney, of Mason City; She was preceded in death by her parents; her second husband, Parle Miner; two brothers; one stepgranddaughter, Martha Campney; and one stepson, the Rev. Arthur Campney.
