Description	:	Gladys Ahrens, age 100, of the Stratford Specialty Care in Stratford and formerly of Boone, died at the Care Center on February 16, 2019. Funeral Services will be Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall, with Rev. Tim Trudeau officiating. Burial will be in the Boone Memorial Gardens. Gladys Mae (Fairchild) Ahrens was born on August 17, 1918 in Ogden Iowa, the daughter of George and Daisy (Hinman) Fairchild. She graduated from Grand Community High School in Boxholm, Iowa in 1936. On February 3, 1964, Gladys married Herman Ahrens at Papillion, Nebraska. In earlier years, Gladys worked as a waitress at several local restaurants. She later worked for Boone County Home Health Care Services as a health care aide. She was a life time member of the Boone Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and attended Grace Community Church. Gladys enjoyed cooking and baking, playing cards, socializing with friends, and watching television. She is preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Doris Tieman and Sharon Anderson; granddaughter, Kimberly Sue Gordon; brothers, Charles and Donald Fairchild; son-in-law, Henry Daniels. Gladys is survived by a son, Gary Peterson and wife, Sandra of Lehigh; a daughter, Darlene Daniels of Alvin, Texas; 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 15 great-great grandchildren.
