Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 5, at Bethel United Methodist Church, Manly, with the Rev. Robert Cumings officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. at Clear Lake Cemetery. Gladys Mae Tantow was born on Feb. 5, 1908, in Manly, the daughter of Charles and Mary (Barta) Wise. She received her education in the Manly school system. After completing her schooling, she helped her family on the family farm. She was united in marriage to Maynard Amos Tantow on Sept. 8, 1925, in Mason City. He preceded her in death on March 30, 1987. After their marriage they farmed together in the Manly area for 56 years until their retirement. After their retirement they continued to live on the family farm. Gladys enjoyed cats, gardening and flowers, but her great love and enjoyment was her family and grandchildren. Gladys was a kind and loving person and enjoyed helping people. She was a Methodist by faith and a charter member of the Friendly Neighbor Club in Hanlontown. Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Paul Tantow and his wife, Maxine, of Mason City, and Charles Tantow and his wife, Evelyn, of Manly; two grandchildren, Nancy Halfpap and her husband, David, of Cedar Rapids, and Carol Hook and her husband, Jim, of Mesa, Ariz.; four great-grandchildren, Jason and Joshua Halfpap, Todd Helland, and Kimberly Slezak and her husband, Shawn; two great-great-grandchildren, Kelsey and Brianna Selezak; and other relatives and friends. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Mary Arlane Tantow, who died in infancy; and a brother, Glenn Wise. Bride Colonial Chapel - (515) 454-2242
