Mrs. Lundeen was born on March 12, 1912 in Rockingham County, NC to the late Frank Leslie and Lillie Mae Smith Matthews. She retired from the Town of Mayodan after more than 30 years of serving as Town Clerk and was a member of the Mayodan Woman's Club and Mayodan Garden Club. Read More	MAYODAN — Gladys Matthews Lundeen, 100, passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at Jacob's Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Lundeen was born on March 12, 1912 in Rockingham County, NC to the late Frank Leslie and Lillie Mae Smith Matthews. She retired from the Town of Mayodan after more than 30 years of serving as Town Clerk and was a member of the Mayodan Woman's Club and Mayodan Garden Club. She also taught piano to many children over the years. She was a member of Mayodan Moravian Church where she was accompanist for the Men's Chorus and was organist and pianist for several Sunday School departments. Mrs. Lundeen was a Diener with the Mayodan Moravian Church and was a member of the Women's Circle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Philip "Phil" Harry Lundeen in 1972. She is survived by a sister, Irene M. Gilbert of Mayodan; niece, Frankie G. Legaux and husband, Gerard; nephew, William (Bill) Gilbert and several great-nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Jacob's Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Richard Williams and Staff of 400 Hall for the care Mrs. Lundeen received while she resided there. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Mayodan Moravian Church with inurnment in Mayodan Moravian Graveyard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mayodan Moravian Church, P.O. Box 245, Mayodan, NC 27027 Ray Funeral Home in Madison is serving the family.
