Read More	Osceola Sentinel Tribune, Osceola, Iowa March 31, 2005, Page 3 GLADYS RUTH WEAKLEND Gladys Ruth Weaklend of Osceola, the daughter of Floyd and Effie Jones Alley, was born Sept. 10, 1919, in Murray. She died at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines Friday, March 25, 2005. She was 85. She lived all her life in the Clarke County area. She married Abe Sharp in 1939 and they had one daughter. Mr. Sharp died in 1941. She married Arthur Woodrow Weaklend in 1943, in Osceola. They had three sons. Mrs. Weaklend's greatest love and joy was caring for her family. Quilting was a major part of her life and she enjoyed making quilts for family and friends. She was a member of quilting groups at the Osceola Senior Center and the First Christian Church of which she was a member. She was also a member of the Clarke County Historical Society and was a volunteer at the Clarke County Hospital gift shop. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Abe Sharp and Art Weaklend; sister, Darlene Alley; and granddaughter, Roxanne Watkins Stephenson. Survivors include her daughter, Irma Lee Watkins and her husband, Bill, of Osceola; sons, Larry Weaklend and wife Becky of Clear Lake, Gary Weaklend and wife Vickie of Boone, Dennis Weaklend and wife Doris of West Des Moines; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Alley and Meryle Saddoris, both of Osceola, Shirley Harrell and husband Lewis of Forsyth, Mo., as well as other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held March 30, 2005 at Kale Funeral Home, the Rev. Phil Coe officiating. Pennie Gonseth accompanied Pastor Chuck DeVos who sang In the Garden and Precious Lord Take My Hand. Casket bearers were Billy Watkins, Dale Watkins, Brian Watkins, Curt Weaklend, Brian Engleen and Justin Patterson. Honorary casket bearers were Jim Vance, Chris Wood, Jess Stephenson and Brandon Rost. Burial was in the Bethel Chapel Cemetery in Clarke County.
