Description	:	Gladys S.(Condy) Kenfield Bartsch of Holdrege passed away, November 3, 2008 in Fremont, Nebraska, where she has been residing the last five years. She was born December 23, 1910 near Big Springs, Nebraska to Edward and Anna (Sonnenberg) Condy. She was baptized in the Methodist church in March of 1911. She grew up and attended a rural school north of Big Springs and graduated from Big Springs High School in May of 1929. Read More	Gladys S.(Condy) Kenfield Bartsch of Holdrege passed away, November 3, 2008 in Fremont, Nebraska, where she has been residing the last five years. She was born December 23, 1910 near Big Springs, Nebraska to Edward and Anna (Sonnenberg) Condy. She was baptized in the Methodist church in March of 1911. She grew up and attended a rural school north of Big Springs and graduated from Big Springs High School in May of 1929. She was a devoted member of the Methodist church, which she joined early in her youth. After high school, Gladys taught in rural schools for better than 9 years near Big Springs, Brule and Ogallala, Nebraska. She then attended Chadron College and Kearney State College (called Kearney Normal at the time). Gladys married Harold P. Kenfield in Brule, Nebraska on June 15, 1936 at her home. They lived in Ogallala for six years before moving to Holdrege on March 19, 1942. She was active in the United Methodist Church, including the WSCS (now called U.M.W), and was past-president. Gladys was a member of Eastern Star and was Worthy Matron in 1951. She was also a member of Entre Nous Club, card clubs, Hospital Service League, Community Concert Association Board, Bible Study groups, active with the Bloodmobile for 24 years, volunteered at Methodist Memorial Homes and served twelve years on the MMH Board, enjoyed bowling league and attended functions at the Senior Citizen Center. After the death of Harold in November of 1970, Gladys was united in marriage to the Reverend Charles Bartsch of Fleming, CO. on March 19, 1972. They lived near Fleming, CO. for eight months until his retirement. They moved back to Holdrege in November of 1972. Rev. Bartsch passed away in February of 1987. She is survived by three daughters: Berdeen Roemmich and husband, Ron, of Omaha, NE, DeMaris Humphrey and her husband, Duane, of Fremont, NE, DeAnne Crossley and her husband, Jack, of Los Angeles, CA; six grandchildren: Kim (Roemmich) Wright, Mark Roemmich, Diane (Humphrey) Bean and her husband, Steve, David Humphrey and his wife, Louise, Dana (Humphrey) James and her husband, Mark, Kristen (Roemmich) Bishop and her husband, Andy; six great-grandchildren; two sisters: Ruby Myers and her husband, LeRoy, of Gig Harbor, WA, Lois Williamson and her husband, Ted, of Gig Harbor, WA. Besides her two husbands, Gladys was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers: Iver, Lester & Ralph Condy.
