Description	:	Gladys V. Kaus, 96, of Wessington Springs, SD passed away Monday, December 7, 2015 at Weskota Manor Avera, Wessington Springs. Gladys Viola (Larson) Kaus was born on August 11, 1919 to Henry and Mary (Nolan) Larson on their farm north of Plankinton, SD as their fourth child. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Catholic Church in Plankinton. She attended grade school at Nolan Grove School near the farm and graduated from Plankinton High School in 1937 before graduating from Notre Dame Junior College in Mitchell, SD with a teaching degree. She taught at rural Aurora County schools until marrying... Read More	Gladys V. Kaus, 96, of Wessington Springs, SD passed away Monday, December 7, 2015 at Weskota Manor Avera, Wessington Springs. Gladys Viola (Larson) Kaus was born on August 11, 1919 to Henry and Mary (Nolan) Larson on their farm north of Plankinton, SD as their fourth child. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Catholic Church in Plankinton. She attended grade school at Nolan Grove School near the farm and graduated from Plankinton High School in 1937 before graduating from Notre Dame Junior College in Mitchell, SD with a teaching degree. She taught at rural Aurora County schools until marrying George A. Kaus on June 5, 1946. To this union five children were born while living on farms in rural Aurora County until settling in northern Aurora County in 1954. They moved to Wessington Springs in 2000, and she spent the past ten years at Weskota Manor Avera. Gladys enjoyed reading, word searches, bingo, and gardening. She was involved in Altar Society and Birthday Club. While on the farm, she loved her morning chats at the mail box with her great neighbor, Eileen Tobin. Her God, prayer and family filled her days. The highlight of her life was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved to spoil by playing games, reading to them, and filling their sweet tooth with cookies, candy and pop. Preceding her in death are her husband, George in 2001; son, Darrell in 1974; grandson, Ryan in 1980; as well as three little grandangels. She also lost two sisters, Luella Gibson and Helen Vetter; a brother, Lawrence Larson; and many brother and sisters-in-law. http://www.mountfuneralhome.com/
