Description	:	West Point- Glen Alan Smith, 69, passed away at 4:47pm, Friday, May 20, 2016 at the Salem Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Mr. Smith was born September 30, 1946 in Salem, the son of late Charles M. and Dorothy Mae (Snyder) Smith, and had lived his entire life in the area. Mr. Smith was born September 30, 1946 in Salem, the son of late Charles M. and Dorothy Mae (Snyder) Smith, and had lived his entire life in the area. Glen will be fondly remembered as a hardworking man. As an operator and mechanic on heavy equipment for 20 years, Glen was the owner and operator of Smith Construction and Excavating Company for 10 years and had worked as a Madison Township Road Foremen for 4 years. Glen also worked as a strip mine foreman and superintendent and was licensed in Ohio as a Mine Foreman and Certified Safety Instructor. He had also served as vice president of landfill operations for American Waste Services for 10 years. In 1994, Glen helped to expand Complete Hydraulic Service, a division of Ohio CAT, in Bolivar, Ohio. In 2012, he retired as the general manager of Ohio CAT with 15 years of loyal service. Glen also continued to farm and raise beef cattle on his family farm in West Point and was currently serving as a Madison Township trustee. He is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife of 51 years, Diana L. (Conkle) Smith, whom he married June 6, 1964; his daughter, Tammy Fox and her husband, Bob of West Point; his son, Tim Smith and his wife, Renee of Lisbon; and his grandchildren, Brandi Kaufman and her husband, Josh, Bobby Fox, and Halie Smith. Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Simms officiating. Burial will follow at the Lisbon Cemetery. The family will receive guests from 5pm to 8pm, Tuesday at the funeral home.
